( The Green Army Coat )

“I own almost thirty jackets and coats. I especially checked that before I wrote this little story. But a jacket I truly cherish is this green army coat. Although for some reason I have a lot green coats, this one is still my favorite because it belonged to my father.”

I somehow found it in his closet almost ten years ago. It suited me perfectly. It turned out to be the coat he got when he went into military service almost fifty years ago, when he was about twenty years old.

Off course you can find these kind of coats in vintage shops or dumpstores everywhere. But when people ask or compliment me me about it – despite the fact it’s a very practical coat it also gives distinction – I can tell them I simply took it from my dad’s collection. It gives it just that little more significance.

So, although the thick green fabric is old, wrinkled, faded, worn out, scuffed and has some holes in it, it will always be a favorite piece, just because of that patina.
